Today, I'd like to address the worst kind of cunt-turd. The motherfucking teenagers who can't distinguish "Deathcore" (which is basically death metal with elements of hardcore punk) from "Grindcore" (which is a mushball of every extreme music genre out there). Some of my favorite bands happen to be members of both of these genres. They sound somewhat similar, but not really. First, lets take some wiki definitions of each genre. (yeah I know, I'm a fucking professional, ok?)
Lets look at Grindcore, since it's been around MUCH LONGER than "Deathcore".
"Grindcore, often shortened to grind, is an extreme music genre that emerged during the mid–1980s. It draws inspiration from some of the most abrasive music genres – including death metal, industrial music, noise and the more extreme varieties of hardcore punk.
Grindcore is characterized by heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, high speed tempo, blast beats, songs often lasting no more than two minutes (some are seconds long), and vocals which consist of growls and high-pitched screams. "Thats pretty specific.
Now, lets take a look at the wiki definition of "Deathcore"
"Deathcore is an amalgamation of two musical styles: metalcore and death metal."
Go on.
"Though a sub-genre of metalcore, deathcore is heavily influenced by modern death metal in its speed, heaviness, and approach to chromatic, heavily palm muted riffing and dissonance. Traditional growls, and screaming are prevalent, often combined with metalcore vocals. Much of deathcore features breakdowns and melodic riffs common in metalcore."
That's quite specific as well.
But theres a flaw here.
The wiki says-
"Deathcore is an amalgamation of two musical styles: metalcore and death metal."
Well... death metal is a subgenre of metal, correct? And metalcore is what?
"Metalcore is a fusion genre incorporating elements of hardcore punk and extreme metal."
Ok so what's Death metal?
"Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal. It typically employs moderate tempos, heavily distorted guitars, deep growling vocals, blast beat drumming, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes."
So how can 2 things with the same common denominator (metal) mix with eachother? If you mix hardcore + metal + metal + death wouldn't it be easier to say it's a mix between death metal and hardcore? You're just adding more metal to the mix than you need.
Apparently they don't teach basic math in special-ed classes.
Lets take a look at the wiki list of "deathcore" bands.
The Acacia Strain
Bring Me the Horizon
Caliban
Despised Icon
Emmure
My Bitter End
Suicide Silence
Whitechapel
Winds of Plague
Alright. So this is flawed.... because The Acacia Strain and Despised Icon are DEFINITELY not in the same genre. You would have to be retarded and/or deaf to try to compare the two.
Go ahead and listen to clips of each band. Myspace search.
Does EMMURE sound ANYTHING like WINDS OF PLAGUE or MY BITTER END? No.
Emmure is more hardcore than anything else. Do you hear those two-step beats?... now on the death metal end, do you hear blastbeats? no. Anyone who knows death metal, BLAST BEATS are the common denominator. The only "death" element I can hear in emmure are the chugging breakdowns. But those things exist in some of the older hardcore bands, like evergreen terrace and sick of it all.
But if they are so different, why are people confusing these bands? Well I have a scientific answer for you- when teenagers get a hold of the world wide web, they ACT LIKE RETARDS.
Lets take a look at a common "discussion" on the internet. It involves a fairly new grindcore band "IWRESTLEDABEARONCE". Listen to some songs @ http://www.myspace.com/iwrestledabearonce
This band takes influence from almost every single music genre available, including death metal, industrial, noise, funk, hardcore, hiphop, progressive rock, bluegrass, and even classical music. Yea, with the violins and oboes n shit.
Lets take another look at the wiki definition of grindcore.
"Grindcore, often shortened to grind, is an extreme music genre that emerged during the mid–1980s. It draws inspiration from some of the most abrasive music genres – including death metal, industrial music, noise and the more extreme varieties of hardcore punk."
THATS EXACTLY WHAT IWRESTLEDABEARONCE IS!
"Grindcore is characterized by heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, high speed tempo, blast beats, songs often lasting no more than two minutes (some are seconds long), and vocals which consist of growls and high-pitched screams. "
SHIT! PERFECT EXPLAINATION! Heres the big fucking FUCK up problem-
The band is labeled DEATHCORE in almost every music site on the internet. WHY? ... The question remains unanswered, but I'll guess it has something to do with GAYS ON THE INTERNET.
I guess this is the price we pay when we give music out for free all over the web. People fucking rape the shit out of the community. Fuck you, deathcore. You've ruined your reputation and I refuse to use your "terminology". I'll just say the most prevelant genre first, aka "hey, have you heard Despised Icon? It's deathmetal, with hardcore two-steps and breakdowns. Fucking SICK! YEA BRUH!!!! \m/\m/"
Heres the bottom line - I might not say "BRUHHH!!!" and hold up ssick devil horns, but I sure as FUCK won't be labeling bands like iwrestledabearonce as "deathcore".
The End.
What the fuck do you know about deathcore ?, If you think it's gay pussy, why dont you just give me a test to see if I'm not wrong at all angles, and dont believe everything they tell you about gay and Fucking scenes is true because there are descent bands, and, if you can´t accept it, you better stay listening to your pretty brutal punkicore genre instead of being an stupid human ignorant who trying to be a genius like you
